Pilates is a fantastic system of exercises that help build strength, particularly in the core, and flexibility. It is ideal to help combat back pain, improve posture and body awareness, and can also relieve stress and anxiety. Classes are open to everybody regardless of fitness. The exercises can easily be adapted to all levels of ability so that you can workout as hard or as gently as you wish.
All classes are mat based and sometimes include small equipment such as the Pilates circle, small squashy balls, balance pads, resistance bands and foam rollers. We usually work on a routine of exercises for around six weeks. This gives everybody, including our new joiners, the chance to get to grips with the various elements of each exercise so that they can get the maximum benefit from each one. The exercises are then changed up to keep the classes feeling fresh and exciting.
Many of those attending our classes struggle with a movement issue of some description. Our goal is to help each individual to rebalance, strengthen and rejuvenate their bodies taking care to always work within their capability. We focus on understanding how to move better, release tension and manage painful symptoms.
For your first class, you will need to wear comfortable clothes that you can easily move in. You will need to wear socks and bring some water. If you have a mat to bring, that would be ideal but not essential (please ask to borrow a mat at the time of booking). If you are brand new to Pilates you may find the first class more challenging than you initially expect so we always recommend trying a few before deciding whether it’s the right place for you.
We will always make you feel welcome, comfortable and part of the gang. Our mission: to help you feel taller, more relaxed, stronger and able to move with fluidity and grace – not just after each class, but every day!
